What is Step & Stride with Ruby? Step & Stride with Ruby is a 12-month walking program designed and supported by AARP for the Red Hat Society. The goal of the program is to encourage Red Hatters to increase their physical activity and experience all of the benefits of an active lifestyle.
Who can participate? In December 2006, AARP randomly selected a target number of chapters and is funding their participation. Beginning in March 2007, those chapters will record their participation online each month for all Red Hatters to view.
Can chapters that were not selected for the study participate? Yes. Non-study chapters may download the Step & Stride with Ruby Fit Kit and order Participant Packets for each chapter member. The cost is $13/packet and includes everything participants need to record their steps each month for 12 months. Orders should be placed by May 31. Non-study chapters are not able to record their progress online, but can compare their results to the study chapters each month.
How do I learn more? Take a moment to download and review the Fit Kit now. If you still have questions after reading the Fit Kit, use the help link at the bottom of the screen.
If we enter our chapter and pay $13 per member to sign up by May 31st, are we eligible for the prizes? Or are the prizes only for the Test Chapter that were selected previously? Chapters that were not selected for the study are not eligible to receive the prizes. The prizes will only be awarded to the AARP-funded chapters selected for the pilot program.
